MindSpark 2017 – 4 Feb 2017
Over 100 students from different colleges and universities across Karnataka stepped away from their daily routines to attend MindSpark 2017 on Saturday, 4th February, 2017. MindSpark is a one day technical event hosted by the Department of Computer Applications, PES University, to spread awareness about the department amongst undergraduates in other colleges in order to motivate them.
The all-rounder prize was awarded to the students of Presidency University for winning in most events. The event was a huge success with a great turnout of participants. Excellent feedback was received for the event as well. What is also noteworthy is that no disciplinary issues were found throughout the duration of the event at all.
Init 2017 – 11 Feb 2017
‘init2017’ is the first Hackathon hosted by the Department of Computer. Applications, PES University. It was a technical competition based on Mobile App Development. Over 100 students from different colleges and universities across Karnataka stepped away from their daily routines to attend ‘init2017’ on Saturday,11th February, 2017. The event took place inside the MRD Auditorium, PES University. The volunteers included students from all 3 years actively carrying out their assigned responsibilities. Apart from the students, the faculty was also highly engaged throughout the event.
The winning prize was awarded to the team, ‘CodeRunners’. There idea was to build an application that does sentimental analysis of people on the basis of their keyboard inputs.
Excellent feedback was received for the event as well. What is also noteworthy is that no disciplinary issues were found throughout the duration of the event at all.
The BootStrap Programme for MCA planned for 4 days from 20/9/2017 to 23/09/2017. The newly joined students in MCA took part in this programme.
Day 1: The students along faculty team comprising Mr.P.Sreenivas and Mr.Santosh Katti visited ISKCON Temple Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore. The students were taken to kitchen to demonstrate the process of Akshaya Patra scheme, which serves food for children across 600 schools in Bangalore. A Lecture on “3 Q’s in Life” was given by Pandit Mohana Chaitanya dasa which enlightened students in terms of how to lead a life by balancing emotional and spiritual content. Also the students have done some service in kitchen by cleaning and a vegetables, arranging the vessels for next day meal.
Day 2: Personality Development Programme by Disha Foundation was organised in the campus. In this programme students were taught Yoga and sessions were conducted on Skill Management and Know Yourself. The resource persons were Rekha Ramachandran, Mr.Pramod and Mr.Pradeep from the organization.
Day 3: Technical session “Visual Programming” by Mr.Santosh Katti, Asst.Professor, Department of Computer Applications was conducted in the campus. In this programme, web designing skills and Mobile application development skills were taught to the students.
Day 4: Social Service Awareness Program was conducted. Students were taken to school cum orphange Gurukula Vidya Peeta, Kengeri, Bangalore. Students have taught school children different art, craft and drawing skills. Sports activities were conducted to school children. Books, Pencils and Sweets were distributed to school children.
On the whole, feedback from students regarding Bootstrap Programme was amazing and good.
